Summary

The Iron Prince—my nephew—betrayed us all。 He killed me。 Then, I woke up。

Waking after a month on the brink of death, Ethan Chase is stunned to learn that the Veil that conceals the fey from human sight was temporarily torn away。 Although humankind's glimpse of the world of Faery lasted just a brief moment, the human world was cast into chaos, and the emotion and glamour produced by fear and wonder has renewed the tremendous power of the Forgotten Queen。 Now she is at the forefront of an uprising against the courts of Faery—a reckoning that will have cataclysmic effects on the Nevernever。

Leading the Lady’s Forgotten Army is Keirran himself: Ethan’s nephew, and the traitor son of the Iron Queen, Meghan Chase。 To stop Keirran, Ethan must disobey his sister once again as he and his girlfriend, Kenzie, search for answers long forgotten。

I sacrificed my last remaining brain cells to finish this trilogy。 Can't say it's worth it but I'm just relieved to be done。 I sacrificed my last remaining brain cells to finish this trilogy。 Can't say it's worth it but I'm just relieved to be done。 。。。more

a good ending to the series but it felt like it had stretched on longer than it should。 I do like that we got to see a lot of familiar characters though!

The conclusion to this trilogy is just what it needed。 I'm really glad that Keirran got the redemption arc that he deserved and most desperately needed after everything that happened in the Iron Traitor and the Iron Warrior。 I will still never forgive him for what he did to Ethan at the end of the Iron Traitor because he most definitely had the choice to change his destiny instead of saying the prophecy made his future。 I will also never forgive him for the pain he put Meghan and Ash through。 He The conclusion to this trilogy is just what it needed。 I'm really glad that Keirran got the redemption arc that he deserved and most desperately needed after everything that happened in the Iron Traitor and the Iron Warrior。 I will still never forgive him for what he did to Ethan at the end of the Iron Traitor because he most definitely had the choice to change his destiny instead of saying the prophecy made his future。 I will also never forgive him for the pain he put Meghan and Ash through。 He was definitely a bad son and has a lot of groveling and making up to do to his family。 I am so glad though that we got to see Meghan the Iron Queen in battle action because she is a literal badass。 Loved the book and is a book I will reread for many years to come! 。。。more

Yeah no thanks, and we trust him to get us through the between? Meh… - Yo the carnival is CREEPY AF。 I wish we learned if it was a crazy Fey or if it was a crazy human who got lost in the between。 But a piranha bearded lady, inflated killer clowns, and a bird skilled skeleton knife fighter?! Oh and let’s not forget the carousel of killer animals! Jesus。- Well leanansidhe seems peachy, having to rebuild her kingdom。 I hope the exiles got out before the veil destroyed her home, and that the humans got away too。 I hope the year she took from Ethan to allow him to use the trod to go to the River of dreams, wasn’t the years w Meghan and caused him to forget her。。 so like Lea to do though, it’ll be that loophole, what she took was important to him, we just don’t know what year she took。 Bitch。 - Back to the river。。 I wonder if they’ll end up in Phaed!? Julie Kagawa's characters have a tough start to the world of Faery。 Megan had to go into the unknown to find her brother and continue her journey afterwards。 Her act of selflessness was so brave。 But her later actions have impacted her brother Ethan。 He had to build a tough exterior to push everyone away and himself closed guarded。 Not really living。 But fate had his path intertwined with his nephew and whether to unite or destroy。I love Julie Kagawa world building。 She has created a fresh take Julie Kagawa's characters have a tough start to the world of Faery。 Megan had to go into the unknown to find her brother and continue her journey afterwards。 Her act of selflessness was so brave。 But her later actions have impacted her brother Ethan。 He had to build a tough exterior to push everyone away and himself closed guarded。 Not really living。 But fate had his path intertwined with his nephew and whether to unite or destroy。I love Julie Kagawa world building。 She has created a fresh take of Faires and the mythology。 It has the wonder of magic and the danger of magic well balance in the series。 Mostly danger since that is where we find our characters most often。 The romance in the series is built on friendship and genuine bond。 Ethan hasn't had many interactions with others and then came Kenzie。 She's a tough cookie and is drawn to Ethan for being not normal。 She takes it in stride and gets involved in his mess。 Ethan keeps pushing her away for her safety, but she has been able to hold herself up against the danger and I impressed with her not backing down。 Ethan needs that in his life。 Someone to pull him out of darkness and into the light。 Ethan was a great protagonist for the series and I enjoyed getting to know him and his journey。 He was brave and was very about not wanting nothing with the Fey but he was able to come with peace about the world that his sister is apart of and was able to handle himself。 Overcome his hatred and stand by his family。 The overall problem is obvious。 Keirran wanted to save his love and really didn't have a problem crossing all lines to do so。 I want to say we get to learn about him in the first book and his bond with Ethan。 Ethan considered him as a friend and wanted to help him because of that and that Keirran is family。 I think the book would have benefited to have his POV added to learn abut his inner struggles。There was many references to past action of Ash and what he did waking up the Forgotten。 I wished I can remember that。 But at last, it took me almost 10 years to continue the series。 I have a great fondness of the series and have a good idea of what happen over the years。 Definitely recommend doing a summary recap from the previous books for a refresher。 So much past history is mentioned that makes it sweeter for a reader to pick up those details。This book wrapped up the story very nicely。 Even though I was frustrated with the choices from both Keirran and Ethan and the Spring Queen but at last the actions took us through a tough journey that lead to a happy ending。 I wanted the family to be together but there are consequence and I wasn't too happy about the punishment。 But the last page made me sad because I have had these characters in my mind and heart for forever since the first book。 Reading this installment was with great fondness and I was turning the page so fast to find out what happens。 With the new series out since 2021 I get to read two new books! Can't wait to continue to read the beautiful world of Julie Kagawa's Iron Fey。 。。。more

Once again, I love these books。 They just bring me joy。 I also liked that Julie could have made this easier on our character and chose not to。 Excited to see what’s next in this world。

exciting, immersive and epic。 I loved the characters and the ending was suitable as well。

This review will cover both The Iron Warrior and the The Iron Traitor。 I’m assuming you have already read the previous book, otherwise there will be spoilers。 There are some light spoilers for the last book as well。Have you ever read a book, found yourself enjoying it tremendously, and then the ending happened? Well, that pretty much sums up my experience reading these two books。 But before I discuss the ending, let me quickly go over what I enjoyed about this story (aside from teenage nostalgia This review will cover both The Iron Warrior and the The Iron Traitor。 I’m assuming you have already read the previous book, otherwise there will be spoilers。 There are some light spoilers for the last book as well。Have you ever read a book, found yourself enjoying it tremendously, and then the ending happened? Well, that pretty much sums up my experience reading these two books。 But before I discuss the ending, let me quickly go over what I enjoyed about this story (aside from teenage nostalgia)。 The world building is wonderful: there is something so vivid about Julie Kagawa’s rendition of Faerie, something so compelling, that I can’t help but be drawn into the story。 Faerie is all my dreams come true。 Especially the Iron Realm—as a programmer, I definitely believe in gremlins! Then there’s the plot, which is high-stakes and fast paced。 You can really feel Keirran’s determination to save Annwyl, who is Fading away at an alarming rate, and Ethan’s determination to bring his nephew back from the brink。 They try everything—or almost everything。 (There are some plot holes I will address。) Nor is there ever a boring moment, as something is always trying to kill you in Faerie, and in the mortal realm as well。The characters have strong motivations。 I’ve already mentioned Keirran and Ethan, but the Forgotten and the First Queen (aka the Lady) also have very good motivations for what they do。 The Forgotten are simply trying to survive; you can’t really hold that against them。 The First Queen is trying to get her throne back, and she’s willing to do anything to get it。The problem isn’t so much that First Queen wants to destroy the Winter and Summer courts (not the Iron Court, mind you)。 The reader doesn’t really care about those, because Mab and Titania are not much worse than the Lady, at the end of the day。 The problem is that the Lady wants to destroy the veil by killing Ethan。 This isn’t just bad news for Ethan; it’s bad news for everyone, because the humans will destroy Faerie。 This is the great irony in the Lady’s plans: the only way to bring back her glamour and the Forgotten’s, is to lift the veil, but that also spells her doom。 As the Big Bad Wolf put it: “Chaos and panic and mortals running around like headless chickens?” The Wolf barked a laugh。 “It would be highly amusing。 But the world has changed。 Those days are gone。 And I know what humans are capable of now。 They no longer worship the things they fear。 They try to eradicate them。” His eyes narrowed。 “The First Queen would bring destruction to the Nevernever even as she tried to save it。 —The Iron Warrior, Chapter 15This leads to the main problem with the series, which is the resolution。 I found the ending disappointing, because it’s not convincing: the Forgotten wouldn’t turn against the Lady, even if they don’t like her, because she has a plan to save them (however flawed), and Keirran has nothing but empty promises。 What is the final solution to the Forgotten problem? Is there a way to save them, or are they doomed to simply disappear?I also found the demise of the Lady rather anti-climatic。 I won’t go into any more spoilers, but I did expect her to put up more of a fight。There are some other plot holes I noticed。 Why didn’t Keirran get Annwyl back to the Nevernever, if he is able to part the Veil and avoid the trods? It might at least have slowed down the Fade。 Why didn’t they try to negotiate with the Lady, given that she is rational, and should be able to understand that humans with tanks, fighter jets and nukes will destroy her? Why didn’t they try to lift the Veil for short periods of time, with Ethan’s blood, instead of destroying it permanently?Another thing that I noticed was the prudishness of the romantic relationship between Kenzie and Ethan。 When Kenzie asked if Ethan was “decent”, I laughed out loud。 The 1950s came calling, they want their euphemism back! But, despite these problems, the Iron Warrior is an enjoyable, compelling, and even unputdownable read。 It’s not perfect, but there’s definitely something special about this story。 。。。more

。。。more

This book was refreshing。 For the first time in my reading life, the female main character didn't want nor ask nor need to be taught how to fight, how to use a sword。 She chose to use those weapons/ abilities that were already in her arsenal: her mind, quick thinking and observant nature。 She didn't need to swing a sword to survive and she never once fought。 She got out of every tricky situation with minimal effort and no blood-shedding。 I love how she didn't need to have any kind of physical ab This book was refreshing。 For the first time in my reading life, the female main character didn't want nor ask nor need to be taught how to fight, how to use a sword。 She chose to use those weapons/ abilities that were already in her arsenal: her mind, quick thinking and observant nature。 She didn't need to swing a sword to survive and she never once fought。 She got out of every tricky situation with minimal effort and no blood-shedding。 I love how she didn't need to have any kind of physical abilities in a fight and how she survived with nothing more than her already existing traits。 。。。more

Took me a long time, but I finally finished the Iron Fey series with this book。 And what a ride it has been! I started the Iron King over 10 years ago and it took me a while to track this last one。 While the writing was typical of a young adult book, full of adventure and romance and drama, I enjoyed it immensely。 The nostalgia of the series was what made me enjoy this finale more than anything, and even though I've outgrown the writing style, this series is dear to my heart。 I loved Ethan, Kenz Took me a long time, but I finally finished the Iron Fey series with this book。 And what a ride it has been! I always feel sadness when I reach the end of a series。 I've grown so attached to the characters that it feels as though I am saying goodbye to all of them。 I think it's evidence of Julie Kagawa's writing that I feel so strongly about her characters。 The Iron Warrior was a good ending to Ethan's story。 I thought it might have had a different ending, but the ending that it did have was not a surprise。 I enjoyed having Ethan as a narrator; he changed so much and grew greatly as a character。 Kenzie I always feel sadness when I reach the end of a series。 I've grown so attached to the characters that it feels as though I am saying goodbye to all of them。 I think it's evidence of Julie Kagawa's writing that I feel so strongly about her characters。 The Iron Warrior was a good ending to Ethan's story。 I thought it might have had a different ending, but the ending that it did have was not a surprise。 I enjoyed having Ethan as a narrator; he changed so much and grew greatly as a character。 Kenzie was awesome, and I enjoyed the travels with the Thin Man, Annwyl, and the rest of the gang。 I was intrigued by the NeverNever having a voice and giving Ethan the ability to be unaffected by glamour; I sort of wished that Julie Kagawa had done more with that interest。 However, I thought she wrapped up the story quite nicely, and I am so so happy that Puck will get his own narration in The Iron Raven。 I am glad that Julie is continuing on with this world; I've grown quite attached to it。 。。。more
